How the club scene is organised
The UK has several dozen active naturist clubs, most affiliated with British Naturism, the sport and recreation body recognised by Sport England. Clubs range considerably in size and character: small rural sites run entirely by volunteer members, larger holiday-park-style clubs with static caravans and camping fields, and a smaller number of specifically family-oriented or younger-membership clubs aimed at broadening who naturism reaches.
Most clubs are membership organisations rather than pay-and-enter venues. This isn't exclusivity for its own sake — it exists mainly for safeguarding, and to protect the atmosphere that makes the club work in the first place. A typical process: contact the club in advance, arrange a supervised visit (sometimes called a "meet and greet"), and — if it's a good fit on both sides — apply for membership afterwards.
What to expect from a first visit
A member will usually show you around, explain the site's specific rules, and answer questions before you're left to explore on your own. Expect a swimming pool or hot tub, some combination of tennis, petanque or bowls, a clubhouse for meals and socialising, and a generally unhurried, sociable pace. Full nudity isn't always mandatory outside of designated areas — most clubs are relaxed about people undressing at their own pace, particularly on a first visit.

What clubs expect from you
- Contact ahead of a first visit — most clubs don't accept walk-ins.
- No photography without explicit permission from everyone in shot.
- Respect the code of conduct — clubs are quick to protect their atmosphere, and rightly so.
- Bring a towel to sit on wherever you go on site.
- Expect a genuinely social, unhurried pace — clubs are as much about community as they are about nudity.
